The FTCs Latest COPPA Enforcement Push - Q&A

In May of this year, the FTC approved a Policy Statement on the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act. The President announced his support of the FTC decision that same day. The opening lines of the statement read: "The Federal Trade Commission (“Commission”) is committed to ensuring that education technology (“ed tech”) tools and their attendant benefits do not become an excuse to ignore critical privacy protections for children"

Protecting the privacy of children and ensuring the security of their personal information is a critical endeavor that the EdTech industry must get right. Please join Matthew Johnson - Attorney at Cooley - in a Q&A session.

In the Q&A, we will:

  • Talk through what COPPA is and how it might apply to you as an EdTech Founder

  • Detail the latest policy statement

  • The research that led to it

  • What this will mean for EdTech organizations
