The Problem

The most effective EdTech remains out of reach of those who need it most.

Why?

Inequitable Access: High-poverty school districts, in particular, lack efficient systems for discovering, and evaluating EdTech efficacy. And EdTech companies are bypassing difficult district procurement processes to sell directly to parents. This creates the inequitable situation where only those with means have access to the best EdTech. And where districts substitute brand for quality in their procurement decisions.

Inequitable Implementation: Studies show that poor, Black and Brown students might benefit more from the use of EdTech than their White, or more economically buoyant peers. Yet many teachers, especially those in high poverty schools, lack the training, experience, and resources to use technology in ways that advance student achievement (PwC). In fact, technology use in stressed school systems is associated with worse results (McKinsey).

Instructional coaching is a critical evidence-based resource for supporting teacher growth. But even as schools rushed to hire Instructional Technology Coaches during the pandemic, evidence from our focus groups revealed they lack role clarity, access to evidence, proper training, and are either misused or underutilized. But it doesn’t have to be that way.

Our Vision

We envision a world where every child—regardless of race, class, or location—can access and benefit from evidence-based culturally affirming EdTech.
